The United States has become the biggest consumer market for Norwegian salmon, surpassing both France and Denmark.

In November, the United States was responsible for a massive 83 percent surge in value of imported Norwegian salmon to NOK 928,038 (€89,005/$93,311). The figure puts it in second place overall but in first place in terms of consumer markets, with first-place Poland largely representing exports to the country's huge reprocessing industry.

Volume meanwhile rose 30 percent to 9,283 metric tons, the sixth largest volume after Poland, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and Spain.
