Ecuador shrimp can once again begin flowing into the Thai market after a year-long import ban was lifted this week by Thai authorities, Jose Antonio Camposano, president of shrimp producers trade body the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA), told IntraFish on Monday.

"We understand exports will reopen this week once the Ecuadorian authorities communicate the new rules to the exporters," Camposano said.

Ecuador shrimp producers' ability to ship product to Thailand was halted a year ago after Thai authorities said they found the white spot virus (WSSV) and the infectious hypodermic and hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) in shrimp samples coming from Ecuador.
