Consumption of seafood across Sweden is decreasing, and fresh salmon is being particularly hard hit.

Sweden imported 59,987 metric tons of seafood from Norway in 2021 worth about NOK 3.9 billion (€369 million/$382 million) compared to 61,045 metric tons and NOK 3.8 billion (€378 million/$392 million) during 2020.

While the decrease itself was not dramatic, seafood consumption in Sweden has fallen steadily since 2015, according to a report by the Norwegian Seafood Council.

Home consumption of salmon reached 77,363 metric tons at a value of SEK 8.2
