Sustainable seafood sales reached an all-time high as consumers cooked at home during the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) said this week.

Despite disruptions caused by the spread of the virus, consumers around the world bought record numbers of products carrying the blue MSC label between April 2020 and March 2021.

Figures newly published in the NGO’s annual report reveal that the volume of independently certified sustainable seafood sold with the MSC label increased nearly 6 percent.
