Sales of fresh and frozen seafood at US supermarkets in May soared over pre-pandemic levels, even though they have slipped from last year's highs, according to market research firm 210 Analytics, which analyzed retail sales data provided by IRI.

May's total US retail seafood sales exceeded $1.6 billion (€1.3 billion), reinforcing the fact that retail seafood sales have grown sharply from pre-pandemic levels.

Frozen seafood sales came in 42.3 percent above 2019 levels, while fresh seafood sales were 31.1 percent higher than the same period in 2019.
