UK retail sales of fish and seafood fell in both volume and value in the 52 weeks through Oct. 8, in a further sign that consumers are feeling the pinch of soaring inflation.

Total sales of fish and seafood amounted to 398,473 metric tons, worth just over £4 billion (€4.6 billion/$4.8 billion) in the period, down 5.3 percent and 4.2 percent respectively. Meanwhile unit sales were down 7.5 percent, according to the latest figures from market research firm Nielsen.
