The new US retail seafood sales numbers for February contain some long-awaited good news.

The volume of frozen seafood sales rose 5.9 percent in February over a year ago to hit $700 million (€639 million). The value of those sales slipped 2.5 percent, but during the period average prices for frozen seafood eased 8 percent, reflecting some much-needed deflation in a market that has been hampered by inflation for more than a year.
