Seafood consumption falling in Germany as cost increases make their way to consumers

The decline is coming at the expense of 'cheaper food' as consumers tighten their belts.

In 2021, German households purchased 495,053 metric tons of fish and seafood – a decrease of 2 percent compared with the previous year -- but at a value of €5.4 billion ($5.3 billion), up 1.3 percent.
