Japanese trading giant Marubeni will be the exclusive distributor in Japan for all of the Atlantic salmon produced by Proximar Seafood's Mount Fuji land-based farm, the two firms announced.
The deal follows almost two years of negotiations between Norway's Proximar and the Japanese conglomerate in working towards finding a common framework for the company's salmon sales and marketing.
The discussions first resulted in a memorandum of understanding last May, with the companies notifying the market of an "extended initial agreement" in November while it worked to conclude a firm offtake deal.
