All-female and family-owned Plant Based Seafood Co. partnered with Microsoft-backed wholesale distributor Pod Foods, as part of the firm's retail launch in the United States.

The company is in the midst of rolling out its new product range, which includes its Mind Blown Coconut Shrimp, Dusted Scallops and Dusted Shrimp. The products hit shelves on March 1.

Pod Foods is a tech-enabled wholesale distribution network backed by Microsoft's venture arm M12, Moment Ventures and Unshackled VC.

The Plant Based Seafood Co. is a spin-off from Virginia-based Van Cleve Seafood led by Monica Van Cleve-Talbert.

In 2019, Van Cleve Seafood introduced its "Wild.Skinny.Clean." line of products consisting of both real seafood such as wild-caught haddock, and alternative plant-based seafood items such as shrimp and crab cakes.
