UK retail seafood sales are suffering amid inflationary pressures and there are no signs a recovery is imminent.

Last year was tough for UK retail seafood sales, with the category returning to "accelerated decline," Richard Watson, market insight analyst at UK trade association Seafish told IntraFish.

The first sign of recovery will be renewed interest in frozen seafood, followed by a switch back to chilled once more driving the category.

Both the value and volume of seafood sales continued to fall through the third and fourth quarters, as prices continued to rise.
