Nippon Suisan Kaisha (Nissui) owned Gorton's, the largest producer of fish sticks in North America, is expanding processing capacity for the McDonald's Filet-o-Fish sandwiches to the US West Coast, sources told IntraFish.

Gorton's is installing a new processing line for West Coast Filet-o-Fish at an existing UniSea processing plant in Redmond, Washington, where it primarily produces surimi items.

No new plant or structure is being built at UniSea, which is also owned by Nissui. UniSea also processes crab, pollock and Pacific cod in Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
