Maruha Nichiro-owned Dutch supplier Seafood Connection is officially opening up in Italy through a joint investment with Agrofish Italia.

The new entity, officially registered on June 1, will be known as Seacon Italia. It was set up with capital of €20,000 ($20,935) and will employ five people.

Until now Seafood Connection products were present in Italy through the brokers Omnia and I-Seafood.

Agrofish is already working together with fellow Maruha Nichiro Company Inlet Seafish in Spain, as well as with Netherlands-based Anova Seafood, of which Seafood Connection bought the frozen business in January 2019.
