Morten Hyldborg Jensen, chief operating officer of whitefish at Norway-based fresh, frozen and canned seafood supplier Insula, sees a growing gap in the seafood market as coronavirus-fueled trends start to solidify into new norms.

The market is going in two directions, Jensen told participants Tuesday in an IntraFish webinar that hosted experts from across the global whitefish industry.

"You're replacing restaurant visits with home meals," he said. Sales for high-priced fish such as salmon remain strong as customers look to replicate the dining-room experience in their living rooms, "but we're also seeing people stockpiling our canned products."
