An increasing number of consumers want the seafood they buy at the grocery store to be in plastic-free packaging, according to new research from the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC).

The study, which surveyed 15,000 consumers across 15 countries, found that 60 percent of consumers avoid buying fish that comes wrapped in plastic.

In addition, 70 percent of those surveyed believe it is important that seafood comes in recyclable packaging.

Despite this, the majority of respondents (60 percent) said it is often difficult to know if fish and seafood packaging can be recycled.
