Germany-based pollock trader Ernst Kratzenstein will shut its doors at the end of 2021, as its owner and managing director Mathias Radvan retires after 30 years at the company.

Radvan started at the company when he was a student, and has for the past 25 years served as a shareholder and managing director.

The Bremerhaven-based company has been a specialist frozen fish trader, in particular pollock fillet blocks. Kratzenstein has primarily targeted European and North American markets.

Radvan began by purchasing from the Chinese and Polish fleets, then later worked closer with Russian suppliers, mostly from Sakhalin and Kamchatka, he told IntraFish.
