Two of Norway's largest salmon producers will be relying on their Chilean and Canadian operations to serve the US market after President Donald Trump on Wednesday closed borders to European passenger planes in an attempt to stop the spread of covid-19 in the country.

Around 70 percent of Grieg Seafood's US market product already comes direct from Canada, and increased harvest volumes from the company's British Columbia farms this spring will boost that figure, Grieg's Global Communications Manager Kristina Furnes told IntraFish.
