France bans use of meat-based terms in the marketing of plant-based alternatives

Beginning in October, France will not allow makers of plant-based meat alternatives to use terms such a steak, burger and sausage.

It might be OK in the United States and other markets to label plant-based meat alternatives with words such as burger and steak, but France will no longer allow the practice.
