Companies aiming to move into plant-based seafood production at some stage are likely to run into a dilemna that will likely steer the future direction of their businesses.

That's the view of Dominique Barnes, co-founder of plant-based firm New Wave Foods, highlighting the two paths companies are likely to tread.

"Do you find a manufacturing partner that can help you scale and get there quickly or do you go down the path where you build your own facility that gives you control over your R&D and your production but is more capital intensive and can take longer to get online?" Barnes asked during IntraFish's plant-based seafood webinar this week.
