US restaurant operator Bloomin' Brands has appointed Paul Jamieson as director of purchasing for seafood.

Jamieson joins the Bonefish Grill and Outback Steakhouse owners after two years as vice president of operations at Bar Harbor Seafood in Orlando.

From 2013 to 2017 he was executive president at Save on Seafood.

Steeped in the seafood industry, Jamieson earlier spent 12 years as purchasing manager at Darden Restaurants.

Jamieson's move comes as US restaurants show the strongest signs of life since the onset of pandemic-required lockdowns in March.

In the week ending Aug. 16 customer transaction declines at major restaurant chains improved into the single digits after 21 weeks of double-digit declines.
