Per capita seafood consumption in Germany increased last year, and indications are that consumption will be even higher by the end of this year.

Last year, Germans consumed an average of 13.7 kilograms of seafood per person at home and in restaurants, corresponding to an overall increase of 1.5 percent compared with 2021.

"The increase comes mainly from out-of-home consumption, as restaurants were fully open again after COVID-related lockdowns in previous years," Matthias Keller, managing director of the industry trade group The Fish Information Centre (FIZ) told IntraFish.
