Japanese conveyor belt sushi chain Hamazushi has stopped serving items on conveyor belts, as a preventive measure against the coronavirus outbreak, reported Japan Today.

Customers will be placing orders using touch panels installed at each table, a spokesperson said.

The temporary measure was put in place at all 513 branches in Japan on March 3. There is no timeline for when use of the conveyor belts will resume.

The move was received well online, however some had concerns that the use of touch panels would also encourage transmission of the virus.
