Christmas cod sales in Brazil are expected to improve this year as the South American nation tries to emerge from the global COVID-19 pandemic, although the current business environment is challenging.

Traditionally, at this time of year and during the Lenten period before Easter, Portuguese and Norwegian companies selling cod into Brazil make most of their money, but once again this year they are facing headwind.

Brazilians love a party. But the lack of weddings, birthdays and other festive occasions following the onset of the pandemic early last year took a heavy toll on seafood sales, for foodservice in particular.
