Diversified Communications, which operates the Boston and Brussels seafood shows, sent a survey to Brussels seafood show exhibitors Wednesday asking for their input on rescheduling the show to June 23-25.

"Based on exhibit space availability and considering the size of the event and the time necessary for move-in and move-out, the Brussels Expo has available dates to hold the event on 23-25 June 2020," Diversified wrote in an email to exhibitors.

The show organizers acknowledged that there was still plenty of uncertainty regarding the coronavirus, "and therefore we would like to know if the dates would work for you and your company," it wrote in the email.

It advised that companies would soon be contacted for their feedback.

Earlier this month, the group postponed the Brussels event, planned for the end of April.

It also postponed its Boston seafood show scheduled for March 15-17 because of continuing concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.

In an email survey to exhibitors March 11, Diversified suggested two options for rescheduling the Boston event, both to be held at the standard venue of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center: May 31-June 2, and Sept. 22-23.

On Sunday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that no gatherings with 50 people or more take place for the next eight weeks to slow the spread of the cornoavirus. The agency said these gatherings include conferences, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events, weddings among others.

The directive effectively takes Diversified's May option for the Boston event off the table but leaves the possibility the show could be rescheduled in September.
