After 10 years in the making, Kjell Inge Rokke's Aker BioMarine has secured approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to start selling its QRILL Aqua and QRILL High Protein (QHP) products for use in salmon feeds.

The company got FDA approval on June 10.

Since Aker BioMarine's krill products contain astaxanthin, a natural source of red color that may enhance the color of salmon flesh, the FDA classified it as a color additive.
