On Thursday the Scottish salmon industry came together to celebrate holding France's premium Label Rouge label for 25 years in Edinburgh.

Scottish salmon was the first non-French product to hold the label and nearly 8,000 metric tons of Label Rouge salmon was produced in 2016.

In recognition of the milestone, the Scottish Salmon Producers Organization (SSPO) put on a small conference to discuss how far the industry has come in the past 50 years, where the opportunities lie for the future, and what more needs to be done to improve the image and reputation of the sector.
