IKEA has been heavily promoting its fourth meatball, a salmon ball made from Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)-certified salmon with the addition of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified cod, since the menu option debuted in August.

Seasoned with seaweed and lemongrass, the company said the new product "captures the fresh taste of cold Nordic sea in a tasty ball."

The company said in May it approached the salmon ball recipe as a way to utilize smaller pieces of the fish that cannot become fillets.
