European surimi seafood giant Viciunai is launching a high protein, phosphate and gluten-free substitute for European baby eels.

The "Plateadas de Mar" line is inspired by the cuisine from the Basque region of northern Spain.

The product makes its debut on retailers' shelves in the Baltic region this week.

"Latvian consumers will be the first to try it out, soon after that – Lithuanians, Estonians and Spaniards themselves," the company said.
