American seafood chain Slapfish has officially opened its first franchise location in the United Kingdom, with 25 more UK branches to be opened before 2025.
Slapfish was founded by celebrity chef Andrew Gruel in 2011. There are currently more than 150 locations under development around the world. In the United States, there are 25 branches in operation.
The plan for global expansion has been in place since 2017.
Slapfish is aiming to appeal to UK customers who are looking for "high-quality and sustainable fast-casual options," said Slapfish franchisee Aly Esmail.
The restaurant has partnered with Fransmart, a franchise development company who also holds Five Guys Burgers and Fries, The Halal Guys, and Qdoba Mexican Grill in their portfolio.
