A California US District Court judge has approved a class certification for several plaintiffs who say they have been harmed by price-fixing that occured between three biggest US tuna producers -- Starkist, Bumble Bee and Thai Union-owned Chicken of the Sea--from 2010 to 2016.

On July 30 US District Judge Janis Sammartino ruled that four distinct groups of plaintiffs--which include various levels of direct purchasers of products as well as indirect purchasers (consumers)--are one class and can proceed with a class-action lawsuit.
