US Commerce Department Secretary Wilbur Ross said Monday he plans to focus on reducing the US trade deficit by maximizing sustainable catch for US fisheries and reducing the country's reliance on seafood from abroad.

"I have one particular ax to grind, and that is more than 80 percent of our seafood consumed in the US is imported, and that seems a little bit silly to me given the coastlines we have and given everything else," Ross said during a nationally televised event at the National Press Club following his speech on US-China trade policy in Washington DC.
