US President Donald Trump now plans to impose tariffs on $300 billion (€267.7 billion) worth of Chinese imports, including several major seafood species. On Monday Trump set into motion the legal process through the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR).

It is unclear so far where several key species stand in terms of being subject to the tariffs.

While the newly published list includes various forms of cod, salmon and Alaska pollock--products exempted under a previously list published by the USTR in the ongoing trade war--it also states any products granted extensions on prior tariff lists "will not be affected."
