The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Wednesday announced Trident Seafoods as the winner of a bid for 324,000 pounds of frozen wild salmon fillets, worth around $3.1 million (€2.8 million).

Trident will supply the Alaska salmon products to US schools nationwide starting in October through March, according to the USDA.

Earlier this year, the USDA authorized a record Alaska pollock purchasing program that officials say will offset harm done by the US-China trade war.
