A Tesco branch in London is receiving backlash from customers after it decided to take smoked salmon products off the shelves and into a secret stash after dealing with a number of thefts, reported 7News.
The notice, which was placed on the door of the refrigerated area normally containing the smoked salmon products, read, "Due to the theft we are not putting high value items like Finest smoked salmon [in fridges] ... if you want any [smoked salmon] please ask customer service assistant."
The supermarket had been forced to "take action" due to an increased number of thefts in the store, a spokesperson for Tesco said.
One customer had posted a photo of the notice on his Facebook, which received criticism from fellow shoppers, reported The Mirror.
