Sales of fresh salmon regained the leadership of the French fresh fish market from cod in 2018.
Household sales of salmon were 22,700 metric tons in 2018, up by 7.9 percent on the previous 12 months, according to research conducted by market research experts at Kantar Worldpanel and released by trade body FranceAgrimer.
Higher salmon sales were supported by slightly lower average prices of €18.27 ($20.55) per kilogram.
