The average British consumer bought less seafood in 2018 when compared to the previous year, as prices crept upwards, according to new statistics by market research company Nielsen.

While seafood volumes and sales value remained relatively flat in 2018, the average spend per trip increased by 2.4 percent to £4.30 (€4.99/$5.64), but consumers bought 0.8 percent less seafood during a grocery run.
