Restaurant chain Red Lobster, the world’s largest seafood foodservice chain, will not be adding plant-based seafood to its menu, reports CNBC.

“Yes, we have looked into plant-based seafood — it was terrible. And no, we’re not introducing it,” Red Lobster CEO Kim Lopdrup said in an interview.

Lopdrup said plant-based options are healthier than red meat, but that seafood is the best option for consumers looking to have a healthy diet.

“We believe we’re already offering something that’s more healthy than these plant-based foods,” Lopdrup said.
