Portuguese seafood exporter Brasmar acquired Spanish seafood smoking firm La Balinesa, reports Food Retail.

The Portuguese company, owned by private equity fund Vigent Group, is strengthening its position with the acquisition of the Spanish processor, which produces smoked and frozen seafood products.

The acquisition will also help the company to diversify by joining a new business segment and widening its offer.

The company appointed David Casañ, who has over 20 years of experience in the seafood sector, as managing director and COO of Brasmar.
