Tristan International, a US subsidiary of Ecuador’s Transmarina, has been granted initial exploratory fishing permits in Ecuador for Patagonian toothfish.

It is the first time in Ecuador’s history that vessels will be legally permitted to fish for toothfish for commercial sale to the United States.

“We currently have two vessels approved and operating in fishing zone FAO 87 in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. We expect to have product ready for sale by mid-March 2019,” Tristan International President Ari Dorfsman said.
