Ethical considerations such as sustainability are not as important as nutrition and freshness information when consumers buy seafood, according to new survey by consulting company TÜV SÜD.
According to the group's household survey of 540 respondents in Germany earlier this year, the most important item of information is the “date of catch."
Sixty-six percent respondents described this as “extremely important” or “important” when purchasing fresh fish.
Nutritional information was given as the next most important item, and is a priority for 55 percent of respondents.
