Crab sales in US supermarkets were stable during the 52 weeks ending Oct. 29, 2016, according to new data provided exclusively to IntraFish from the Nielsen Perishables Group, which tracks sales in key US grocery, mass/supercenter and club chains.

Overall, the crab category accounted for 5.7 percent of total US retail seafood sales, with average weekly sales of $418 (€394) per store, a slight drop from the previous year when average sales were $422 (€398). The eastern and southern parts of the country had the strongest weekly sales.
