Chilean salmon producer Multiexport said it has shipped 3,300 metric tons of salmon so far this year to China, giving it a 22 percent market share among its domestic rivals.
The company has been the leading Chilean salmon exporter to the Asian nation since 2016, it claims.
Sustained demand growth in the Chinese market over the last five years has bolstered the company.
A main importer of fresh salmon in China, Shanghai Chuner, invited Multiexport to participate in the prestigious Shanghai International Fisheries fair, the only Chilean company participating in the three-day event, which wrapped up Aug. 30.
Multiexport shared exhibition space with the importer and with leading Atlantic salmon brand in the Chinese market, Bakkafrost.
