Low-mercury US tuna brand expands into Costco

Select stores at the big box chain throughout the United States feature a test launch of the ahi tuna line.

Several Costco stores throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana have are testing California-based Safe Catch Tuna's ahi product.

Safe Catch Co-Founder Bryan Boches confirmed to IntraFish Monday a special version of the product launched at the US big box giant this month.

The company announced Jan. 4 via Facebook it is offering a deal of $12.00 (€10.46) for six cans of a product it says is 100-percent mercury-tested.

The six-pack offering retails on the company's website for $26.99 (€23.51). It sells online at various retailers for around $4.00
