Over 12.5 metric tons of Norwegian farmed salmon infected with high levels of listeria made its way to Spanish dinner plates at the end of November, sparking an investigation by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.

Salmon farmed by Salmar in Troms and processed by exporter Nordlaks was reported to have detected listeria on Nov. 29 by Spanish authorities.

Detection lab Eurofins analyzed the samples in Stokmarknes, Norway, but the positive result was not found prior to reaching Spanish customers.
