The combination of a stable shrimp supply paired with low prices will likely lead to restaurants, retailers and consumers gobbling up shrimp this holiday season at a strong pace.

Phil Gibson, CEO of seafood consulting firm Resiliensea Group, told IntraFish US consumers have India to thank for low prices this season.

"It's created a situation completely opposite of two years ago," he said. "Where there were disease problems that impacted supply in the other direction, you're seeing an evening out, in my opinion, of the supply and demand curves."
