Just as it appeared Honduran shrimp producers would be able to resume exports to Mexico after a nine-month ban linked to disease concerns, their hopes have been dashed again, prompting their trade association Andah to launch a scathing denunciation of Mexican authorities.

Mexico imposed the ban on frozen shrimp imports from its regional neighbor last October, amid allegations of yellowhead virus disease among some consignments.

Subsequent tests at a laboratory in Sydney, Australia, proved negative for the disease, leaving Honduran producers anticipating they would be able to resume exports as soon as an industry-wide audit was completed.
