UK Members of Parliament (MPs) from Cleethorpes, approached the government asking for reassurances over a trade deal with Norway and Iceland following Brexit, reports Grimsby Live.

The majority of fresh cod, haddock and salmon imported by Grimsby comes from Norway and Iceland, and not from the European Union.

“Critically, some recent papers published by the government regarding Brexit said there would be no requirement for physical checks on cargo moving from the EU,” said Simon Dwyer, spokesman for the representative body Seafood Grimsby and Humber.
