German fish consumption is on the rise -- and salmon is one of the big winners, according to newly released figures by the Fisch-Informationszentrum e. V (FIZ).
In 2015, total German demand reached around 1.15 million metric tons of fish and seafood, coming to a per capita consumption of 14.1 kilograms.
Retailers sold 420,811 metric tons of fish and seafood for a record sales value of €3.6 billion ($4.1 billion), up 1 percent from 416,663 metric tons a year prior.
