French retailer Auchan to list trout grown on insect meal

French retail giant Auchan plans on listing farmed trout grown with insect meal supplier InnovaFeed in a first-of-its-kind tie up, according to feednavigator.com.

Trout farmers already listed in Auchan began testing the meal, and Auchan encouraged the development. The groups signed a formal agreement to pursue the cooperation Monday.

Auchan stores will begin selling the first InnovaFeed-raised trout in March 2018, and the goal is that all of Auchan's French locations would list some of the trout, according to Jacques Le Cardinal, head of fish marketing at Auchan.
