The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent a warning letter earlier this month to Christopher D. Ashie, owner and president of New Jersey-based Products Africana.

The FDA inspected the company's manufacturing facility in January and found that it has serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation.

"Your firm does not have a HACCP plan for hot pepper sauce with dried shrimp (Shetor) to control the food safety hazards of Clostridium botulinum toxin formation," said the letter.
